Some of the characters and places in Jane Eyre are from Charlotte Bronte's own life. Here are three that I know of.
Mr. Brockelhurst is Reverand William Carus-Wilson, who ran Cowan Bridge School.
Cowan Bridge school was the influence for Lowood school. Cowan Bridge school was a school for poor clergy's daughters.
Helen Burns was based on Charlotte's older sister Maria. The four older Bronte girls( Maria, Elizabeth, Charlotte, and Emily) were sent to Cowan Bridge school. Maria and Elizabeth contracted tuberculosis and sent home. They died soon after. Charlotte and Emily were pulled out of the school and taken home.
I found these things interesting.
Blessings
~Elizabeth
