Star Trek Discovery & Captain Pike

My dad is a huge fan of The Original Series so he was a little hesitant about Discovery and but I think season two managed to do some things that he really enjoyed. Particularly related to Captain Pike. What he enjoyed specifically was the references to the original pilot( The Cage) with Captain Pike. I enjoyed how Discovery tied in with The Cage but I enjoyed even more Anson Mount's performance as Pike. He really stepped right in to play Pike and didn't even skip a beat. It was so enjoyable to watch him on screen with the Discovery crew. I am absolutely thrilled that Pike, Spock, and Number One will be getting their own Star Trek series with the Enterprise in Strange New Worlds. I also like the title they chose referencing the speech Kirk and Picard give in The Original Series and Next Generation episode opener.

However, I want to talk more about how Discovery tied into The Cage and how well they did it, as I think it was probably the best part of the entire season.  So let's go through what was well done.

The first thing my dad noticed with tying it into The Original Series and The Cage is Number One. I really wish we had her actual name but it wasn't revealed in Discovery and I think it is the only choice that I find a little odd but I digress. However, the choice to keep Number One and have her be a woman just like in the original series let along make sure she was brunet shows attention to detail. My dad talked about what a big deal it was to have a first officer be a woman and it was not received well and Gene Roddenberry was forced to change and not have a woman first officer. But Discovery has brought Number One back and I am excited to get to know her more.


The second part that Discovery tied specifically to The Cage was including the planet Telos IV and the Telosians. It gave a clear and firm tie. My dad was actually quite please with the upgrade the Telosions got in design. Yes it doesn't look exactly like in The Original Series but special effects makeup and CGI have upgraded. However, Discovery stayed true to the original concept of the design. Vina also being there provided a clear tie to The Cage. I am not sure if I fully understood her connection to Captain Pike but maybe I need to rewatch The Cage to get a bigger picture. However, I also know that Discovery was also handling what we know will happen to Captain Pike in the future.

I am looking forward to when Covid-19 will allow filming to happen and we can watch Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.

Star Trek Discovery: Why Tilly is Actually Amazing

I love Star Trek. I grew up watching Next Generation as a family and my whole family loves sci-fi. Recently, with the pandemic going on, we started watching Discovery. This post will probably have some spoilers so if you are concerned about that stop reading, go watch Discovery, and then come back to talk.

Ready? Okay.

One of the things that I heard from Star Trek groups before watching Discovery was a lot of hate for the character of Tilly. The main thing that people seemed to complain about with her was that she was annoying so I went into the show expecting that. I did also want to keep an open mind and form my own opinions about her but I was prepared for her to be a character that would annoy me. Well having watched all of season one and two, I just don't know what people are talking about. I absolutely love Tilly so this is my post to talk about why she is, in fact, one of the most amazing characters on the show.

First I want to address what I am assuming people find annoying about Tilly. She talks a lot especially when she is nervous which is most of the time. She has a happy and bubbly personality. Maybe a little like a puppy. These are the things that I assume people find annoying about her, which to be fair I might find Tilly's personality exhausting for me as an introvert. However, I probably would also be the extremely awkward person in the corner at the party who Tilly would come over and talk to and invite to interact. I am pretty sure she would engage me and try to make me feel welcome and honestly, that would probably make me like her and move past the aspects of her personality that I might find clash with mine. Tilly is the kind of person who would try and make everyone feel welcome. She would see who is feeling awkward or uncomfortable and try to fix it.

The other thing that I love about Tilly is how much she is willing to go out of her way to help her friends and support them. She is a loyal friend. Such as when she was trying to find a way to help Staments with the spore drive. She wanted to find a way for him to not feel trapped as the navigator for the rest of his life. She is willing to reach out to Burnam as a friend when Burnam is feeling isolated. Tilly also helps to build her friends up when it comes to the Queen PO in one episode where she helps her to become strong and step up to her duty to her people. When she meets up with the queen again she recognizes how she has grown and tells her how proud she is of her.

Tilly is also willing to challenge Burnam. Burnam would rather avoid talking about her feelings but Tilly says "I love feeling feelings" and is open about what she is feeling. She practices empathy and connection with others and listens to them. She challenges how they think but does it in a subtle way by asking questions.

Something else that makes Tilly relatable to me is her complete nerdiness. She loves science and will say things like "that's so f*cking cool!" or "That is the power of math, people." She is incredibly smart but sometimes struggles to see herself that way. She isn't bold and being bold and speaking up pushes her outside of her comfort zone. She has the goal to be a captain someday but struggles with the confidence to achieve that goal. Her friends come in and support her and show her her strengths and tell her what will make her a good captain. I can relate to struggling to feel confident even when I know I am capable of doing something and having a goal but not feeling bold. However, having friends and colleagues that support me and show me that I am truly capable and strong and can achieve my goals makes all the difference. Just like with Tilly. 

Lastly, and perhaps this is an odd point, part of why I love Tilly is that she doesn't have the body of a typical Hollywood actress. She is a curvy girl, which is not often seen in sci-fi shows. I am a curvy girl and I really appreciate the representation of seeing someone with a body like mine on a TV show. I can't help but feel some of Tilly's struggles as a character come from not being a skinnier and not fitting a particular mold and that makes her all the more relatable. She is still an awesome and amazing and strong character and not just thin. Perhaps this is a bit of superficial reason but I can't help feeling that I would feel so much more comfortable in my own body during puberty if I had seen more women like Tilly on TV and had the representation of my body.

Riley & Buffy Make me Uncomfortable

I have recently gotten into Buffy the Vampire Slayer and if you are familiar with the show you know that Buffy has a few different serious relationships throughout the show. This can of course lead to the shipping wars. There are those who ship Buffy/Angel, Buffy/Riley, and Buffy/Spike. I have not don't have a particular camp that I hang out in as I think there are positive and negative aspects to all the relationships and there are definitely unhealthy aspects to them. However, as far as annoying my feminist and setting off warning bells in my head Riley was the main one. You would think the Vampire ones would but they don't have the subtle misogyny that comes out in Riley.

Riley is a sweet genuinely nice guy. His is cute and charming overall there is really nothing to complain about. He is the kind of guy that you would want to bring home to mom. In that sense I like him. However when he finds out that Buffy is the Slayer and that she is stronger than him he does a classic white male reaction. He is ego is threatened he questions his masculinity and he puts all of this on Buffy and makes her have to deal with it when she cannot help who she is or how he reacts to it.

Riley is also a little obnoxiously determined that it is his duty as Buffy's boyfriend to protect her even though she tells him she does not need it and that what he is doing is actually more of a hindrance to her because she is afraid he will get hurt. He is so stuck in the ideas that he is the male protector and has to do his job that he cannot see Buffy as the strong independent very very not damsel-in-distress that she is. He is unwilling to see her as someone who is able to defend herself without his needing to save her. Buffy is willing to work in a side-by-side fighting relationship with him but Riley can't move past his own issues to be that.

Riley says that why he behaves the way he does is because he loves her and does not want her to get hurt and this is a clever disguise for his own misogynistic attitudes because we all want someone who loves us and wants to protect us. But that is not what Buffy wants, what she really wants and needs is a partner who sees her as an equal and not as a damsel that needs to be protected. Riley's attitude holds Buffy back as she tries to make the relationship work and cater to Riley's male ego. I think despite how great a guy Riley is and how like-able he is, his relationship with Buffy is not good for her. I was not sad or sorry when Riley left and was a little relieved that I would not have to listen to his delicate male ego being bruised by Buffy being the Slayer anymore.

Stereotyped Strong Female Characters with Moffat

I am a big fan of Doctor Who and Sherlock. Both of which are shows that involve Steven Moffat. I find that Moffat is talented in coming up with brilliant ideas however the execution and writing of them do not turn out as well as they could. I am in some ways a fan of him because of that brilliance, but that does not mean I don't have some big issues with some of his writing. In particular his writing of women and so called "strong female characters."

I have chosen the compare four of his most well known strong female characters: Amy Pond, River Song, Irene Adler, and Clara Oswald. Please know that while I am strongly criticizing these characters I have a very strong love for several of them. Particularly Amy Pond(read my post) and River Song. One can enjoy and like something and still be critical. 

 Let us start with the one major flaw that unites all of these women. Their characters plot lines all are dependent on male characters. Amy's story is wrapped up in the Doctor from childhood, River was basically born for the Doctor to kill him/marry him. Irene exists to challenge Sherlock Holmes and cause him problems. Irene has no backstory about who she is and where she is from she is solely there for Sherlock Holmes. Clara, oh Clara, you are as the Doctor puts is "his impossible girl" that is all that your character exists for to be impossible to the Doctor, and as Clara says was "born to save the Doctor." All of these strong female characters are not actually strong. If they were strong they would have much more independent stories/lives from the male characters. Their existence in the story would not be to aid the story of the main male character. Rather they would have their own stories and background separate from that of the male characters and their stories would exist not for the male characters but rather as a co-story with them. I think it is significant that Sherlock and the seasons 5-7 of Doctor Who do not do well on the Bechdal test. (Moffat has done much better in season 8) His so called strong Female characters would fall apart if we were to remove the male characters. 

Not only are these characters unable to stand on their own with out the male characters, they also may as well be the same character. River and Irene are both intellectual women who are shown to be able to be on the same level as the intelligent male counter part. They are both geniuses. Strong female characters do not need to be geniuses in order to be strong characters. IQ does not make a strong character. All four women can be considered to have higher than average intelligence, but most especially River and Irene. 

All four of these women are quick witted and all make quips. They all think fast on their feet. They all love the danger and thrive it. You could blend Irene and River together and have a character that would not be inconsistent in anyway. The same could be done with Amy and Clara.These traits that they all share as characters are good traits, but the fact that all of Moffat's major female characters share these traits is a little disturbing. It is like he has the same base for a female character and just adds a little something different to each but at their core they are all the same. They are not individuals.

Moffat seems to have this stereo typed strong female character in his head. His idea of a strong female character is a women who has a high IQ, can keep up with the male characters, loves danger, thinks fast, can make quips, and have witty dialogue. That is not what makes a strong female character. Strong female characters are women who are all unique have strengths and weaknesses. They have an independent story. Strong female characters are like normal women. They don't need to be larger than life(though certainly those larger than life characters are enjoyable). They don't need to stand out in a crowd. They just have to be themselves. Women are diverse in so many ways and the strong women of today are not all the same. Strong female characters in media should be just as diverse. 

Moffat does not know how to create strong female characters. He only knows how to create archetypes of characters that are based on stereotypes/what he thinks these archetypes should be. His so called strong female characters lack the verity in characteristics and basically no character independence thereby making them not true strong female characters. Strong female characters are well developed characters, unique personalities, unique characteristics, are very much like women you meet in real life, and have no story line dependence on the male characters.

Why I love Amy Pond

I adored Amy Pond from the moment she appeared on Screen. I knew she and I would be good friends. She is a passionate and fiery red head. I actually died my hair to try match her. This is a post about my love for her and some of the things I wish had been done differently with her character.

 Amy loved adventure and god excited to see new places and new things with the Doctor. She wants to help people and make the right decisions even if what is right is scary to face, such as in the episode The Beast Bellow. She is also clever and able to figure things out.

Amy is also not afraid to tell the Doctor what she thinks he needs to hear. She worries about him as she knows he is not careful. She is also loyal and love very deeply.

I also love Amy's style. She wears such cute outfits. I have to admit that when I dyed my hair red I was doing it because I love Amy. I have a denim short skirt that I have nicknamed my "Amy Pond Skirt" and love to wear it.

I have to say though that I wish Amy was much more independent of the male characters around her. While she is independent her story revolves around the Doctor. We don't know anything really about her family or the relationship she has with her family. In fact compared to Rose, whose family comes up frequently and participate in major story lines, Amy's family may as well not exist(which in fact they actually did). Amy does not have any plot lines that do not involve the Doctor or Rory. Her characters story is dependent on the male characters around her. She had so much potential as a stand alone character and yet Moffat created her to revolve around the Doctor and Rory.

Please know that I love Rory and he is probably my favorite male companion I just wish that Amy's character was not so dependent on him for a plot line. Rory was give the short stick as well in my opinion as he did not have much plot outside of Amy. I love them as a couple but they are individuals.

Elsa Immodest!

I don't know if you have ever hung out in conservative christian circles, but when Frozen first came out(which I know was a while ago) then you have probably heard someone say "Elsa's dress was so immodest!" I know I have heard it a few times. Is her dress really immodest though? I think it is important to point out that Elsa's dress is actually quite tame compared to some previous Disney princesses.

I actually found Elsa to be really modest. compared to the other directions Disney has gone in the past. Her dress is in fact no different than what Cinderella, Belle, and Aurora wore.

Now lets break it down....
She has long sleeves instead of now sleeves.
She is wearing a long skirted dress instead of a short skirt.
She has a slit in the skirt that only goes to her knee.
You can's see any cleavage instead of a lot of cleavage.
As far as I can tell this fits most modest dress cloths criteria. Maybe they are bothered by the fact that you can tell she is a women in the dress instead of dress that hides her curves. Her dress does not really break any modesty rules, instead I would say it follows them quite well.

I think though that this dress has some significance to her character in the movies.

Elsa's outfit from the beginning of the movie is her completely covered. She literally does not show any skin outside of her face. She has her neck covered, her hands. She is not in contact with the outside world. When she changes her outfit she shows her neck and has a slit in her dress. Her sleeves, while still long are transparent. She is allowing her self contact with the world around her. She is breaking out of the walls she built around herself to protect herself.

Overall this post is to say that Elsa's dress is not immodest and that her dress has significant meaning to her character. My other question is why we are so concerned about what a character wears there are much bigger issues with Disney's choice of how they present their characters. Such as the inaccurate proportions or their female characters. Elsa's waist is much smaller than what is natural proportionally. I think there are bigger issues than what a character is wearing.

Warehouse 13 H. G. Wells

I don’t know if any of you watch the show Warehouse 13 so I will give the briefest description/summary possible. Here goes.

Warehouse 13 is a show that is best described and a sci-fi and fantasy mix. There are objects that have certain powers to do weird and freaky stuff. There some kind of science behind the objects and what they do but that is really complicated. The Warehouse stores the objects to keep the general public safe. There are agents of the Warehouse that collect the objects. It is a dangerous job and there are bad guys along the way. I would say it is a fun show and if you are also familiar with the show Eureka it is in the same universe and that show.

Warning I would also like to warn you that if you plan on watching this show my post contains spoilers. If you don’t care about spoilers or the show then read on! (please note that the word spoilers should have been read in River Songs voice) End Warning

Now that you know the basics of the show I can now explain what H. G. Wells has to do with it. *Deep breath* H. G. Wells was preserved by some process called bronzing to prevent her from doing some not so nice stuff to the world. now in the future another bad guy has debronzed H. G. to help him cause havoc on the world.

Now you may be wondering why there are pictures of a woman in this post because H. G. Wells is a guy right? In the real world yes however in Warehouse 13 the writers have gender bents(am I using that correctly?) H. G Wells to be a woman whose first name is Helena. In the story H. G. Wells is actually a brilliant scientist whose older brother Charles wrote the famous books about her actual inventions.

She is my absolute favorite character from this show. She is totally badass, kickass awesome. I lover her despite the fact the most of the time we are wondering whose side she is really on and if she is a good guy or a bad guy. I find her to be a relatable character with depth and feeling. When she is the bad guy she is not the bad guy who just wants to destroy the world because she is insane. She is in pain because she lost her daughter(she was not married) whom she loved dearly and was unable to save. She has been grieving the loss for a very long time and is angry at the world for letting such a horrible death happen to her innocent daughter.

She is also good because she does help and does care about other people but is very lost in her grief. H. G. Wells is smart and brilliant and knows what she is doing. She is trained in different fighting methods and is very good at what she does. She is also a human being who as suffered a lot of pain. On and interesting fact in the show it is hinted, if I remember correctly, that she is bisexual.

Warehouse 13 has done a wonderful job creating a fantastic fictional character based on a real person with a few changes. I would recommend Warehouse 13 and a fun show to watch with a few weird really weird and slightly creepy episodes.

Doctor Who Tag Question 7 & 8

Day 7 - Favorite companions

Martha Jones was the first that I really felt was a true favorite. She was smart. Very smart! She was not the kind of girl who would need someone to come running to save her all the time. She could save herself just as well too. 

I like Amy for similar reason that I like Martha. Amy is a strong inspirational Heroine who doesn't always need to be saved. She is also a red head and Scottish which give her a fierce personality. She is also clever. She may not have the IQ of Martha but she is definitely smart. I was unsure of her when she first came but by the end of her first season I liked her. 

Honestly, who could not love Rory. He is sweet, polite, nice, and very loyal. I like him because he is not the typical macho guy hero for men. He is smart and uses his brain. A bit like the Doctor in that sense. He does not need a gun to defeat his enemies. My sisters and I all agree that Rory is Awesome. 

Day 8 - Least favorite companions

I don't really have a least favorite. I feel that this is unfair, but I do have companions who I feel are not quite well just. I don't know. They just have not completely won me over. 

I go back and forth with Donna. On the one had her personality annoys me, but I know part of her personality is a front to protect herself from being hurt. I also find it interesting that she was truly the Doctor's best friend because she was never really interested in him romantically. She is pretty much like his sister. She also has a soft heart. However her personality makes it very difficult to like her. That is why she falls under least favorite. 

I realize what an extreme shocker it is to see Rose under the "least favorite" category. I honestly feel that her character is a bit overrated. She really is not the cleverest companion compared to the others. Not that she is stupid or dumb. I also feel she is at times a bit self centered. Like when the Doctor first regenerated. She was not worried about him. She was worried about herself. She also gave up on him really fast. While I understand how difficult it must have been. I think she was a bit mellow dramatic about it. I like Rose I just do not like her quite as much as Martha, Amy, and Rory. 

PS. I am not sure River qualifies as a companion but is she was She would definitely fall under the favorite category. 

Doctor Who Tag Question 6

Day 6 - Favorite Doctors (or do you disagree with the idea of having a favorite Doctor, and like all of them equally?)

Mostly I disagree with the idea of having a favorite Doctor. They are all the Doctor. They are just different portrayals of the same person. No. When regeneration happens there is a different set personality. So if you want to speak in terms of the show they are different personalities of the same character. It is complicated. I may particularly care for a particular personality but I cannot say that I have a Doctor that I particularly dislike at the moment. I can't really say I have a favorite either. I really like them all for different reasons. 

Doctor Who Tag Question 5

Day 5 - Least favorite episodes

Right of the top I can say "The Unicorn and the Wasp." Giant flying stinging insect. No. That is the thing of my nightmares. I really liked the idea of meeting Agatha Christy.

"The Idiots Lantern" is another. I just really didn't care for it. Something about it just was not clicking for me. I think I had a heard time with the sucking people faces of with a TV. It just was kind of "huh" thing. Most things in Doctor Who are a bit far fetched but this seemed particularly far. 

"The Lazarus Experiment" It's plot just didn't interest me I don't think it really had anything to do with anything in particular. The episode just was not that interesting to me. 

"Midnight" I found the episode just plain disturbing. Interesting the insight into human nature but disturbing also. It was like some kind of philosophical discussion on what people do in a situation like that. A disturbingly most likely accurate one. However I was thrilled to see Colin Morgan in this episode. (Merlin from the BBC show Merlin)

"The Rebel Flesh" another of the I just really didn't care for the plot points. I found the themes and issues interesting, but the story not very compelling. I really did enjoy the way they tried to deal with the issues. So I don't quite feel it is a least favorite. episode. 

"The God complex" It was just a bit weird, and scary. I did enjoy the themes though. I am very big on good themes. Especially well presented ones. 

Those are my least favorite episodes. 

Doctor Who Tag Question 4

Day 4 - Favorite episodes and favorite scenes/moments

I am going to do favorite episodes instead of scenes or moments because that is a bit overwhelming. I have a lot of favorite scenes. 

I am going to have to sort this by Doctor. I have episodes that are favorites for certain Doctors. 

Ninth Doctor: The Empty Child: As creepy as this episode is. I really really liked the ending. Anything that has to do with a mother and her children has always had a deep meaning for me. I can't explain it. Dumbo makes me cry every single time I watch it.  

I don't have very  many favorite episodes with the Ninth Doctor. It is not that I don't like his Doctor. I really like Christopher Ecleston as an actor and I like his doctor. His episodes just have not made as much of an impression on me. 

Tenth Doctor: The Shakespeare Code: I love Shakespeare so how could I not get excited about this episode. Not to mention all the Harry Potter references!  I have always had a strong notion of the power of words and this episode explored how words can be powerful.

The Girl In The Fireplace: My whole family loved this episode because when we watched it we had just heard our priest speak about how God experiences all of time at once and this helped us see how that could be. God was like the Doctor and we were like Reinette. 

Silence In The Library & Forest of the Dead: I am not entirely sure why I like these two so much. I think it has to do with River. I love River she is totally awesome but she also scares me sometimes. Also it has a library that was so huge it had it's own planet. There is also the idea that books can be so real that they can be another world to us. 

Eleventh Doctor: The Time of Angles & Flesh and Stone: Again River. We get to learn more about her but also have more questions. Getting to know Matt Smith's Doctor was another reason I liked this episode. 

The Doctor's Wife: This episode has to be my most favorite from Eleven. I just love the Tardis and the Doctor getting to talk and well. It is just amazing. :) I just loved watching how the Tardis had to learn to cope with the real world outside of her Box. The Doctor always has his box even it his box is not in it's box. 

Let's Kill Hitler: River again. I really just enjoyed this episode. Honestly who doesn't want to go back in time and put Hitler in a cupboard?

There are many many other episodes that I like. These are just the ones that I thought of first.

Day 3 - Favorite theme songs

My absolute favorite is The Doctor's theme from seasons 1 and 2. It changes a little in the next few seasons with Ten. I love how mysterious is sounds. I think it fits with the mystery of time. 

My next favorites would have to be the opening and ending credits themes. 

This one is from season 5, I prefer the ones from the earlier seasons though. 

This is the one that I really like!

I really enjoy I Am The Doctor as well. There is this building excitement of it in the beginning that is repeated but just makes me simile. There is just something about it. 

Those are my favorite Doctor Who sound tracks. I am not particularly familiar with all of the tracks though I have notices that I have never been displeased with any of the music that I have heard.

Doctor Who Tag question 1

I am very flattered to have been tagged in Banrion An Gheimhridh's Doctor Who Tag! I am very excited for this delightful opportunity to talk about one of my favorite obsessions shows! :)

Banrion offers a couple of options of how to answer her tag questions. I could do them all at once, or just one at a time, or something in the middle. She doesn't have a particular rule. However as I feel that I could go on and on with each of her questions it is probably best if I don't try and answer more than two at a time. 

Here is her first question! 

Day 1 - When and why did you start watching Doctor Who, and what made you become a fan of it?

I started watching Doctor who sometime last year. I can't remember very well. It was during the school year and my senior year is a bit of a blur. I had been hearing about Doctor who all over facebook and all the people I knew really enjoyed it. I really wanted to give it a try. After all I thought it was sci-fi and I have basically grown up on sci-fi. While Doctor Who is not typical sci-fi(I would say there is more fiction than science fiction in it) it does fall have sci-fi elements. My sister also wanted to watch Doctor Who for similar reasons so we convinced our parents to watch it with us. Even though my mom and dad had watch the first three episodes of the ninth Doctor before and after the first episode my dad refused to watch anymore. However like I said we convinced my dad to give it a second chance. 

Now my dad is almost a bigger fan than I am, which is just so typical of my dad. (that is another post). Now my whole family is made up of Doctor Who fans. 

What made me become a Doctor Who fan? Honestly I am not sure there is just something about it that I think appeals to people. I think it is the idea of ordinary people saving the world and being able to travel through time a space. I think a a race we have always been a little fascinated with time, and we have so much evidence of how long we have been watching the stars. There is also something about the Doctor that we all identify perhaps it is that while he is not human biologically he is human in so many other ways. he is not perfect he is a bit happy go lucky and yet he has his dark moments. Also he is just like a kid that never grows up and is not afraid to show it. We are all still kids inside. 

Well that is my answer to The first question and as this post proves I really can go on and on!

Harry Lloyd was in Doctor Who!!!!

So I have finally joined the ranks of the Whovians. My family has been working our way through the series, we are currently on season 4 with the 10th Doctor. 

We were watching this episode, don't remember the title but it was with Martha, and during a pause that my dad was looking up some other actor on IMDb and we were looking at the cast list over his shoulder. Now this one actor was looking super familiar but I just could not place him. Then I saw the name and my sisters and I started laughing and giggling hysterically.

 It was Harry Lloyd. Not only that but he was playing an evil character.

So here he is. He really was brilliant though pulling of the creepy evil thing. He was so young looking too. 

See here is creepy Harry Lloyd. 

I could not stop giggling after I figured out it was him. The character was just so the opposite of Will Scarlet from Robin Hood. 

Anyway I hope you will forgive my log absence and then me coming back with a totally random post about Harry Lloyd and Doctor Who.

Review: Robin Hood Season 2

I think Season 2 is tied with Season 3 as being my favorite of the three. Part of the reason I like this better, was that I feel with the first season they were trying to do a lot of figuring out of what they wanted to do, towards the end of 1 they had is figured out, but Season 2 felt much more solid. All the characters were established, and the actors seemed more comfortable with their characters. Not to mention they seemed to have more depth too. Robin, especially to me, felt a little flat in the first season but he really seemed to grow in season 2. It was nice to see some depth there.

I think every gained some depth in Season 2. Even the Sheriff strangely enough gained some. Though Keith Allen does a fantastic job in both seasons!

The costumes where interesting and very nice looking, though, like the first season, not truly medieval. Marian's costumes especially are not accurate with the time.

Most of what I would say is the same as the first season. So I would recommend reading that. Season 2 continued the great story and if you enjoyed the first you will enjoy the second.

Only Stargate fans :)

This was one of the best moments from Stargate. Granted Indian Jones was not in it and the girl wasn't either. I have no idea who she is, but I thought this was so funny! :)
