Summer Beaches

Last year my best friend and I went on a road trip to see the Olympic National Forest and some of the Pacific coast. It was a wonderful time and we both at one point spent an entire morning and afternoon on the beach reading our separate books.

My friend and I didn't pack very well for actually being on the beach and had to stop at a store to pick up some beach towels to sit on on the beach. I plan to put the beach towel to good use in the future for more beach time reading sessions.

As an extremely pasty white person, the sun is not always my best friend. I am more likely to turn red as a tomato from sunburn and still be pasty white when it fades than to every tan but I try to get some sunshine and then spend a good amount of time in the shade. For the beach though there was no shade so I had to apply sunscreen regularly.

I generally love living in Washington state. I can have the best of every world. I have beaches, forest, mountains, and an overall mild climate. I am biased but it is the most beautiful state in my opinion.

What are your favorite outdoor places to read?

Been a While

So..............

School really takes a lot of my time leaving little time to for fun on the internet. When I do have time I must admit I don't spend it writing post instead I spend it doing things that require less thought. I don't like writing post for the sake of writing posts. I want to write something of value for others to read.

Some cool stuff has happened at school. I got to play in a ton of concerts this semester and sing with a choir. My piano teacher said that I was a performance monster this year. I have had some very good classes this semester with some wonderful professor.

Also a monk from a local monastery came to school and I got to have my picture takes with him.

I wish I had some more interesting stuff to say but I just lack the time to create and organize a topic. Maybe I will have some inspiration to write a fantastic post at some point.

On The 6th Day of Christmas

I will share pictures of what we wore for Christmas. My sisters and I all got dressed fancy and did our hair. It was alot of fun.

We all look really weird in this picture. I don't know why. I think I was trying not to laugh at what someone had said.
You can't really see my whole outfit here maybe another day I will get a picture of the whole things. It was really really pretty. I think it is one of my favorite Christmas outfits. :)

Merry Christmas!!

Day 07 — Your favorite pilgrimage destination

Being in America I feel that we don't have nearly as many pilgrimage destinations as those who live in countries that have had Orthodoxy for much longer. But I do have a favorite pilgrimage destination, even though I don't have a lot to chose from, and I have not been to nearly as many as  I would like. It is All Merciful Saviour Orthodox Monastery. It is is such a lovely location, and the monks there are so friendly and easy to talk to.

I would like you to meet Edward

When the snow came we went outside to play, and when there is snow, and it is good snow, you have to build a snow man. Well…. that was the original plan.

I had decided that I was going to make the biggest snowman that I possibly could, and my sisters joined in. We knew his name was going to be Edward that never changed. But after a we had the base of the snow man I said he looked kind of like a dinosaur, so then he was a dinosaur. A few minutes latter I said it looked like sphinx. We all got very very excited about making a snow sphinx. So he was a snow sphinx. This was the most fun thing I have ever made in the snow! : )

Here are some pictures!

Here is a really good one of his front. We tried to get the best head dress that we could, and my sister did a pretty good job on the chin.

Here is a side view!

Sadly Edward is all gone now. But we have pictures!

Our snow storm

Almost 2 weeks ago we got a really really REALLY big snow storm. At least it was big for us. We had snow, ice storms, and windstorms. I know some people who didn’t have power for 4 days! The snow was fun, but the rest of it was not. We lost power a few times, but thankfully it was not very long. Any way here are some pictures. I will post tomorrow what me made in the snow! : )

        473
We measured the snow and we had about 7 1/2 inches!!!
        475
Most normal winters we do not get snow. This was most obviously this is not normal.
As something else to be noted my dad didn’t go to work pretty much the whole week. At least after Tuesday. That was nice.

We are all very sad, because our Maple tree in the front is down. I know a lot of trees and branches are down. I will just really miss our tree in front.
Our backyard is a carpet of green pine branches of all shapes and sizes. So many branches everywhere have come down!

Flower pictures

These are some flower pictures I have taken. I enjoy taking pictures, it is a little hobby. I don't have a really good camera, so some pictures I want to take don't turn out so good. But these turned out great I think.

I love the purple hints in this flower.

Notebooks, flowers, and pictures

I like to play with the camera and take all kinds of pictures. If I feel I have something to take a picture of. Here is a picture I took of what I have fondly nicknamed "my Shakespeare book". I have quite a few journals, I am not a diary kind of person, so I don't know what to do with them. So I am using this one to put in some of my favorite Shakespeare poems, sonnets, and quotes from plays. It is my collection of favorite works from Shakespeare.

I put the flower there because it looked nice to me. It is one of the ones that I dried.

Blackberry flower pictures

We have had a complete and utter lack of sun and warm weather here! It has been cold and it is the end of July! Anyways because of this lack of warm weather, our blackberry bush has been very late, and we will probably not get any blackberries this year. :( I did go out and take some pictures of the blooms that where there though. I was playing with the camera and we don't have a whole lot of interesting things in our backyard, so I took pictures of blackberry blossoms.

Please tell me what you think of them! I have numbered them.

#1
#2 I like this one and how it is focused.

#3 some blossoms that have not opened yet.
#4 I like the leaves in this one.
#5 This one reminds me of Milo & Otis. I have no idea why?
#6 The back of some blossoms.
#7 I think this one is my favorite of all of them! With the open blossoms and how it is focused on them.
#8 I like looking down into the open blossom.

Tell me what you think! :)
