Shadow Hand Cover Reveal!!!!

I am so excited to be part of the Cover Reveal for Shadow Hand. Anne Elisabeth Stengl's 6th book in the
"Tales of Goldstone Wood" series. I feel in love with her books from the moment I picked up Heartless. All of the covers are breath taking. This one does not disappoint. It is just gorgeous! I made my sisters come over and look at it and they gave the appropriate "ohs" an "ahh." :)

Here is her blog for Shadow Hand

"She Will Take Your Own Two Hands
To Save Your Ancient, Sorrowing Lands."

"By her father's wish, Lady Daylily is betrothed to the Prince of Southlands. Not the prince she loves, handsome and dispossessed Lionheart, but his cousin, the awkward and foolish Prince Foxbrush. Unable to bear the future she sees as her wedding day dawns, Daylily flees into the dangerous Wilderlands, her only desire to vanish from living memory.

But Foxbrush, determined to rescue his betrothed, pursues Daylily into a new world of magic and peril, a world where vicious Faerie beasts hold sway, a world invaded by a lethal fey parasite . . .

A world that is hauntingly familiar."

I am also very pleased to share her giveaway. The giveaway item is a mug that has the above banner on it. Something nice to drink while you read her books.

Here are the books I have read since I last posted.

Artist John William Waterhouse

John William Waterhouse is one of my favorite artists. There is just something about his art that I find particularly wonderful. Here are a few of his pieces.

Study for The Lady Clare
The soft tone and gentle curves.

Not sure what this one is called.
The flowers.

Flower Picker
The flow of fabric and the vibrant colors.

The Crystal Ball
The vibrant red int his one is just so striking.

Do you have a favorite artist?

Book Review: The Mark of Athena

Title: The Mark of Athena
Author: Rick Riordan
Rating: 4/5
Book Series: The Heroes of Olympus
Other Books: The Lost Hero, & The Son of Neptune
Percy and Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief, The Sea of Monsters, The Titan's Cures, The Battle of the Labyrinth, & The Last Olympian.

Finally there was a little resolution in the series with this book. I truly love the vibrant characters. The humor of the series. There are many different conflicts going on that add to the complexity of the story.

I truly enjoy multiple character perspectives however this was a little much. Three different characters was good, but 4 was a littler to much. One thing that I wish Riordan could do was a little more food for thought in these books. While they have a few interesting details( I find the names of the two camps to be interesting reflections of the differences between Rome and Greece) there is a lack of thought provoking material. I think he could really do some truly interesting themes with his stories but does not take advantage of them.

Do not think that I am no longer a Rick Riordan fan. I am. I would just like to  say that I find his books much better for interesting-story-but-doesn't-make-me-think kind of read. We all have those purely fun books for when we want something good, but not deep. :)

We are eagerly awaiting House of Hades release.

HP Humor

If you have read Harry Potter I am sure you will find these just as amusing as I did. :)

Ariel is a Weasley!

I will admit that the spelling in this one bothered me, but I think it is one of my favorites.

Oh Draco,

Hagrid was transfigured.

I am impressed by this cats balance.

I realize there is a cat trend here but cats are really just perfect to take pictures of.

The only problem is that it doesn't have the right markings.

And of course grumpy cat.

What I read: March

I am sorry about not posting well pretty much not at all. School has just been taking so much of my time I am  just don't have time for anything else. Also just all the stress. I really don't want more stress of putting together blog posts that actually make sense. I mean I love blogging it have been great for me to have a place that I feel free(mostly) to express myself. It just that it takes work to put together coherent post for my readers. Like right now I am having to do way more thinking about this. So until further notice I am just disappearing for a littler. I will try and keep up with my reading challenge posts though.

Anyway. I really did not get much reading done in march at all. I feel kind of depressed when I look at how much I read in March.

Harry Potter & The Goblet of Fire by J. K. Rowling

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix By J. K. Rowling

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince by J. K. Rowling

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by J. K. Rowling

Lent has Started Today

Lent started today. You must either think fell asleep for about 2 months and have only just woken up or I am just a very confused person because duh, Elizabeth Lent started last month. Well for the Western church yes. For the Orthodox though Lent started today.

Why did lent start for us on such a different day and so much latter? Well there is a long and complicate answer for that and there is also a shorter answer. As I am not entirely sure exactly of what the long complicate answer is(though I have an understanding of it) I will just give you the shorter one. We calculate the date for Easter/Pascha differently. Well not so much differently as we consider when the Passover happens and set the date to be after the Passover. The western Church does not. Hence we have Pascha after Western Easter most of the time. There are times though when we have it on the same day.

That answer was a little longer that I thought it would be.

Anyway now that that has all been explained. Lent is a time when we make a much stronger effort with our spiritual life. Weather it be through fasting, praying more, or spiritual reading. You can also give something up for lent like internet time. I have done that however I have decided not to this year as I really have not been spending a lot of time on the internet anyway(as evidenced by my last posting date).

I would like to pray more during lent, I would also like to read more spiritual books. I generally consider myself a well read person, but as far as spiritual books go I am sadly lacking.

The most important thing to remember though is that Lent is a time for repentance.

Pretty People: Taylor Swift

This a post series I just about people who I think look pretty, lovely, or beautiful. That is all there is to it.

So for this post I am doing Taylor Swift, who I think is very lovely.

I must ask who doesn't like Taylor Swift's Hair? I love how curly it is. :)
One other thing is that I really like her eyes. They are the first thing you notice about her.

The poofiness of the dress. (is that how you spell that word? Is it even a word?)

I ador this dress. It is so Medieval Tudor looking.

I have not yet decided if I like the strait hair and bangs. look she is doing lately. I do like her happy yellow dress. :)

That is all I have for now. I hope you all are having a lovely week.
I do apologies for my lack of posting. I am in really in the grove with doing school and my blogging is just not taking priority right now. I will be so happy when highschool is over! :)
